Arūnas Emeljanovas

Prof. Dr. Arūnas Emeljanovas is among the leading researchers in Lithuania most deeply engaged in exploring health-related aspects such as physical activity, physical fitness, sedentary behavior, dietary habits, health-risk behaviors, social capital, and issues of physical education in general. He has published more than 100 scientific articles, over half of which appear in Clarivate Analytics Web of Science indexed journals. He has delivered over 100 presentations at international conferences, including several invited keynote lectures (in Morocco, Estonia, Pakistan, India, and others). Together with colleagues, he has authored three books and several teaching materials. Professor Emeljanovas has lectured at universities abroad in Greece, Norway, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the United States, and more. He has also completed research fellowships at Harvard University (Boston, USA, 2016), Long Beach University (Los Angeles, USA, 2018), and Columbia University (Now York, USA, 2019). Prof. Emeljanovas is active as an expert both in Lithuania (serving as an expert in teacher professional practice for the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, and participating in various working groups) and internationally (expert for the Latvian Science Council, dissertation opponent at the University of Tartu, Estonia, editorial board member of several international scientific journals, and scientific committee member of international conferences). He played a key role in preparing the “Procedure for Assessing the Physical Fitness of Students in Primary, Lower-Secondary, and Upper-Secondary Education” (approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania, October 8, 2019, No. V-1153). He is also a member and Lithuanian representative of major international organizations related to physical education, including: FIEPS Europe (European Federation of Physical Education and Sport), FIEPS World (World Federation of Physical Education and Sport), where he serves on the Board of Directors; INSHS (International Notwork of Sport and Health Science), CEREPS (European Council of Research in Physical Education and Sport Science), the Global Community Health Notwork, and the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance.
